SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — So far, voters are showing their support for Pam Haley to continue serving as Position 5 on Spokane Valley City Council.
As of 8:40 p.m., Haley is leading the race with 55.73% of the vote, against candidate Catherine Nelson’s 42.83%.
Incumbent Pam Haley has served on Spokane Valley City Council since 2016 and also served as both Deputy Mayor and Mayor between 2018 and 2023.
According to the City of Spokane Valley’s website, Haley is a small business owner with a master’s degree in both business and education.
Her listed strengths include budgeting, community partnerships and children’s issues.
According to her campaign website, Candidate Catherine Nelson’s platform has focused on cutting taxes such as the license plate tax, stopping ‘wasteful spending’ such as the Sprague Road Diet project and strongly funding law enforcement.
She was raised in Deer Park and lived in Spokane Valley since 2004.
As of Tuesday evening, 20.37% of ballots have been returned. Votes will continue to be counted over the next several days. Final results will be certified on November 25.
