SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — As the first round of votes are tallied, Spokane Valley City Council is on track to have Ben Wick continue serving as the council’s Position 4 seat.
As of 8:38 p.m., Ben Wick is leading the race with 67.33% of the vote, against candidate Daryl Williams’ 32.03%. Write-in candidates received 0.64% of the vote.
Incumbent Ben Wick has served on Spokane Valley City Council intermittently since 2012. He has held Position 4 since 2017 and served s Mayor from 2020-2021.
According to the City of Spokane Valley’s website, Wick is the current President of the volunteer organization, Spokane Valley Kiwanis Club and an Honorary Commander emeritus with the Fairchild Airforce Base.
His family has lived in Spokane Valley for four generations.
According to a Ballotpedia profile, Candidate Daryl Williams has built a career in business management.
His campaign listed campaign focuses are supporting law enforcement, balancing the budget and listening to Spokane Valley residents.
He lists ‘memorial road signs’ as a public policy issue he is passionate about.
As of Tuesday evening, 20.37% of ballots have been returned. Votes will continue to be counted over the next several days. Final results will be certified on November 25.
