AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — A judge sentenced an Airway Heights man to over 20 years in prison for sexually abusing three children, according to Airway Heights Police Department.
A Spokane County Superior Judge sentenced 41-year-old Brigham Van Wormer to 243 months in prison after being found guilty on eight counts of child sex crimes.
A 2023 investigation found that, beginning in 2018, Van Wormer sexually abused his then-girlfriend’s three children, ages ten, nine and seven at the time, while all living together at a home in Airway Heights.
AHPD said the children disclosed the sexual abuse to a counselor and family friend shortly after the relationship between their mother and Van Wormer ended and they moved out of his home.
Police arrested Van Wormer in 2023, but he pleaded not guilty and was released on bail pending a trial.
The trial began in September 2025 and lasted over two weeks. A jury found Van Wormer guilty of attempted rape of a child and child molestation.
