SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane’s Woman, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program offices will stay open through November, Spokane Regional Health District announced on Wednesday.
Spokane’s WIC offices were originally planning to close on Oct. 30 due to the ongoing government shutdown. According to SRHD, U.S. Department of Agriculture funding came through to keep the WIC program going until the end of the day on Nov. 26.
SRHD says it hopes funding for the program will come back before the Nov. 26 deadline.
WIC is a nutrition assistance program for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, infants and children. It provides monthly benefits for nutritious food as well as educational resources and more for its recipients.
