DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies arrested a man and seized thousands of illegally grown cannabis plants in Douglas County on Wednesday, according to the Columbia River Drug Task Force.
On October 22, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia River Drug Task Force and several other law enforcement agencies, issued a search warrant at a property along Highway 97, about five miles north of Orondo.
Upon a search, officers found multiple buildings inside an orchard that were being used to illegally grow cannabis.
“The buildings, which were converted into areas to grow Cannabis plants, were cleared of dangerous chemicals, CO2 and other hazards by Washington State department of Ecology and WSP CERT members. This process was extremely dangerous and labor intensive,” said CRDTF in a press release.
Several people were detained during the search and deputies arrested 51-year-old Yahui Wu on multiple drug-related charges.
CRDTF said over 3,000 illegal cannabis plants were seized and destroyed during the operation.
