SPOKANE, Wash. — Mayor Lisa Brown gave her second annual Statement of Conditions and Affairs at the City Council Meeting Monday evening.
During the statement, Mayor Brown said that despite the $13 million budget deficit, the city is committed to balancing the budget and restoring reserves without compromising city services or community safety.
Mayor Brown also outlined several achievements from the past year, including reinstating the Fire Academy and Neighborhood Resource Officer program, restoring the traffic safety unit, transitioning into a scattered site model for homelessness response, expanding partnerships to address behavioral health and opioid addiction, passing new housing reform and creating funding opportunities for local small businesses.
“With collaboration, careful planning, and a shared vision, I know we can continue building a Spokane that is stronger and safer for everyone who calls it home,” she said.
