SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A timber manufacturer in Spokane Valley is expanding thanks to recently awarded funds from the Washington State Department of Commerce.
Mercer Mass Timber LLC recently received, via Greater Spokane Inc., $250,000 in Strategic Reserve Funds (SRF) from WSDOC.
The funds will go toward permitting, engineering and installing an assembly line at the company’s secondary manufacturing space.
The funding adds to a $30 million private investment expected to create roughly 50 new jobs at the 270,000 square-foot facility.
“With this support, we’ve advanced critical certification efforts, unlocked new market opportunities and laid the foundation for next-generation manufacturing workflows,” said Mercer representative Brent Olson. “These investments enhance our competitive advantage and support sustained job growth and deeper economic impact across the greater Spokane region.”
The $250,000 in funds is part of a larger $700,000 in strategic reserve funds meant to help boost economic investment in Washington.
Other SRF recipients include Yakima County Development Association for a new Manzana Products apple processing plant and Clallam County Economic Development Council for improvements at Forks Industrial Park.
“These funds, paired with private investment, make Washington’s economy stronger,” Governor Ferguson said. “We are working to expand family-wage jobs and support key industries across our state, especially in rural and underserved communities.”
