CLEARWATER COUNTY, Idaho — A Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office sergeant died in a UTV accident near Elk River on Friday.
According to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, calls first came in around 1:45 a.m. on Friday for an overdue person on a UTV.
A search began spanning from Elk River to Dworshak reservoir.
The missing UTV was found around noon near the South Fork of Robinson Creek by hunters who volunteered to help.
The UTV driver, 43-year-old Dale “Caleb” Law from Hayden, Idaho, was found dead near the UTV. He worked at the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
KCSO says Law served Kootenai County with distinction for 18 years and was promoted to Sergeant in 2024.
