CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — Evacuations have been adjusted but are still in place for two growing wildfires in central Washington on Sunday afternoon, according to Chelan County Emergency Management.
As of 12:30 p.m. on September 28, Level 3 (GO NOW), Level 2 (GET SET) and Level 1 (GET READY) evacuations are in place for both the roughly 38,500-acre “Lower Surgarloaf” wildfire and the roughly 33,300-acre “Labor Mountain” wildfire burning near Wenatchee.
Evacuations are in place and changing rapidly. Some evacuation levels have been lowered over the weekend for some areas near the Lower Sugarloaf Fire. You can find the most up-to-date wildfire evacuation levels here.
According to Washington State Department of Transportation, drivers traveling on highways across the state, including US-2, US-97A and I-90 should be aware of possible road closures, dangerous and changing conditions, emergency responders and delayed travel times.
