SPOKANE, Wash. — A Superior Court judge dismissed a lawsuit from Christian nationalist Sean Feucht against the city of Spokane on Thursday.
Feucht filed the lawsuit last year against current and former Spokane city councilmembers who denounced former Mayor Nadine Woodward for appearing at a rally with Feucht in 2023.
According to the city, the court on Thursday found there was no legal merit to Feucht’s claims and the city did not burden Feucht’s religious practice or free speech.
Mayor Lisa Brown, Council President Betsy Wilkerson and City Councilmember Zack Zappone issued the following statement on the ruling:
“The Superior Court’s thorough and clear ruling is a complete victory for the City of Spokane. Today’s decision reaffirms what we have maintained all along: that there was no legal merit to Mr. Feucht’s claims. At a time when extremism is on the rise, it is reassuring that the Court upheld the Constitution and our community’s values.”
