PULLMAN, Wash – The Apple Cup will be played for the 117th time this weekend, but will still mark some firsts in the series.
Saturday will be the first time WSU can sell beer and wine in general admission seating in the stadium.
It will also be the earliest Apple Cup ever played in Pullman.
At the end of the day, though, it’s the classic rivalry that excites fans every year and caused this game to sell out weeks ago.
The Huskies, now in the Big Ten, hold a 76-34 advantage over the Cougars (the teams have tied six times in the series).
The Apple Cup, however, currently resides in Pullman, with the Cougs pulling off a 24-19 thriller last September in Lumen Field.
Kickoff is at 4:30 Saturday and will be nationally televised on CBS.

Using the rivalry for good
Again this year, UW and WSU are holding a food pantry challenge. Donate to your favorite school’s food pantry and help beat hunger for college students across the state.
Last year, the competition raised nearly $20,000 for UW and WSU food pantries.
