NEWPORT, Wash. — A Newport woman was arrested for first-degree assault after allegedly shooting her friend during an argument Thursday evening, according to the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office.
Tyran R. Graham, 28, was taken into custody and transported to the Pend Oreille County Jail following the shooting that occurred around 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Stohr Road, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded after neighbors reported hearing two women arguing, followed by two gunshots, according to the sheriff’s office.
When deputies arrived, they found a 40-year-old Newport woman bleeding from gunshot wounds. The victim told deputies she had been shot by Graham, also from Newport, the sheriff’s office said.
The victim was transported by Life Flight helicopter to an area trauma center where she received treatment and has since been released, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
Officials said no additional information will be released at this time.
