SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man will spend the next two decades in prison for running a commercial pill press to manufacture fentanyl pills in a home in the Hillyard neighborhood.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 44-year-old Timothy Maddox purchased a pill press from China which was used to mix fentanyl powder with cutting agents creating pills to sell.
Search warrants were served at multiple locations in November 2023 and law enforcement seized enough fentanyl powder to make more than 2,000,000 fentanyl pills. The DEA says that amount could killed everyone in Spokane County four times over.
Law enforcement also seized large amounts of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, MDMA, and marijuana. Loaded weapons were also seized including modified shotguns, AK-type rifles, a modified firearm making it fully automatic, and body armor.
The DEA calls Maddox a “career criminal” and the U.S. Attorney’s Office says he has previous convictions including burglary, vehicle theft, drug trafficking and domestic violence. During a 2015 drug trafficking arrest, Maddox told officers he was one of the biggest drug dealers in the area.
Maddox was arrested along with a co-defendant, Nicholas Adams. Adams’ trial is set for December.
