STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — The wildfire burning near Arden is almost fully contained, but still producing visible smoke on Sunday afternoon, according to Department of Natural Resources.
On August 8, DNR gave its final update on the 58-acre Castle Rock Fire burning two miles east of Arden.
DNR said the fire was 99% contained and that control of the fire would be returned back to local fire crews.
“Local crews will continue to patrol the fire edge, monitoring internal fuels and ensuring safety along the fire line,” wrote DNR in the update.
DNR said smoke from the fire will continue to be visible for the next few weeks as fuels within the fire perimeter continue to burn and smolder.
This interior smoke is not cause for concern.
However, if you happen to see active fire burning near the fire’s edge, call and report it to the Northeast Washington interagency Communications Center at 509-685-6900.
