MOSCOW, Idaho – Spokane native and Vandal football defensive lineman Zach Krotzer says the first scrimmage of the fall showcased the hard-hitters.
“Our d-line can hit. Our linebackers can hit. Our safeties can hit.”
Getting to finally be in situations with live tackling is something Krotzer and the rest of the defense have been craving. Coach Thomas Ford said their energy was unmatched.
“They come out ready to go, and I just think it’s because they understand we are in a position that we have a chance. Not every FCS school has a chance to be a playoff caliber team,” said Coach Ford.
Starting quarterback and Fresno State transfer Joshua Wood took only a few reps, Wednesday and Ford said they used the live scrimmage situations to get a clearer picture for the remaining quarterback spots on the depth chart.
The Vandals open up their season on the road against the Washington State Cougars in Pullman on August 30.
