OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighters are working to gain more containment on two fires burning near the Colville Reservation.
The Kinkaid Creek Complex is made up of two main fires: The Kinkaid Creek Fire and the South Nanamkin Fire.
As of the last update, the Kinkaid Creek Fire is estimated to be 221 acres. The South Nanamkin Fire is estimated to be 92 acres.
Both fires were caused by lightning. Containment is 18% collectively for both fires.
According to incident management, crews worked to build fire lines around the edges of both fires on Monday. The Kinkaid Creek Fire is about 50% lined and the South Nanamkin Fire is 100% lined.
Crews will continue work on both fires today to secure the fire’s edges. Mop-up activities will take place in areas with little fire behavior.
There are currently no evacuations or road closures in place for these fires.
