KAMIAH, Idaho — Idaho Fish and Game is asking for any information about an illegally killed moose cow and her calf near Kamiah earlier this month.
The moose bodies were found east of Kamiah in a meadow about 50 yards from Forest Service Road 500. IDFG says the moose were killed on July 19 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Both moose are believed to have been shot with a rifle from the road.
Officers also discovered about 75 to 100 pounds of meat that was left to waste, including an entire quarter of the animal and parts of both backstraps.
IDFG says illegally killing two moose is considered a felony. The minimum fine during closed season is $1,000 plus a combined civil penalty of $4,500 and a mandatory revocation of their hunting license.
If you have any information about this incident, call Fish and Game Senior Conservation Officer Aaron Wright at 208-921-4172 or the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at 800-632-5999.
