KOOTENAI COUNTY, Wash. — A flood advisory is in effect until 7:15 p.m. Thursday evening for parts of North Idaho, including Kootenai County, the National Weather Service said.
Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms has caused flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, with between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of rain reported.
According to the National Weather Service, at approximately 4:12 p.m., doppler radar detected intense rainfall, and minor flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Communities expected to be affected include Spirit Lake, Athol, and Chilco.
Residents are advised to stay alert and avoid driving through flooded areas.
