WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. — Whitman County Public Health is reporting a new pertussis outbreak.
According to WCPH, the department is investigating two linked whooping cough cases. The cases are considered epi-linked, which means the people got sick from the same sources or exposure.
It had been three months since Whitman County’s last outbreak.
Pertussis includes cold-like symptoms and develops into a bad cough.
Infants and people with pre-existing health conditions are at increased risk.
WCPH says vaccines are the safest ways to protect yourself and loved ones from serious illness.
