WENATCHEE, Wash. – A Wenatchee man was arrested for allegedly hitting a bicyclist with his car and fleeing the scene Saturday.
According to Wenatchee Police, 55-year-old Neftali Ponce-Contreras hit the bicyclist at the intersection of Ferry Street and South Wenatchee Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
An ambulance crew in the area saw the crash and took the victim to a local hospital. The victim had minor injuries and was last reported to be in stable condition.
A search of the area was done by police at the time of the crash, but no suspect vehicle could be found.
Police said they received video of the crash Wednesday.
The suspect vehicle was identified as a silver 2005 Honda Accord registered to Ponce-Contreras.
WPD said Ponce-Contreras admitted to driving away from the scene after hitting the bicyclist.
Ponce-Contreras was booked into Chelan County Jail on a hit and run charge.
