NESPELEM, Wash – A teenage driver was killed and four children were taken to the hospital with injuries from a crash Tuesday night south of Nespelem.
The Washington State Patrol says 17-year-old Jaelynn Vallee of Okanogan was driving on State Route 155 Tuesday night when she failed to negotiate a curve and drove on to the rocky shoulder.
She then overcorrected, went back on the road, spun and then rolled the vehicle. The vehicle ended up on its wheels on the opposite shoulder.
Vallee died at the scene, four passengers in her car were injured and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center.
One of those passengers is a three-year-old girl from Elmer City; the other passengers are 12 and 13 years old and are from Okanogan, Coulee Dam and Nespelem.
No one in the car was wearing a seatbelt.
