SPOKANE, Wash. — Two pedestrian and bicycle safety projects begin Monday in north Spokane, creating traffic disruptions through fall.
Lincoln Street Closes
Lincoln Street will close completely between West Boone Avenue and West Sinto Avenue through September.
According to the City of Spokane project adds protected bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and a new traffic signal at Lincoln Street and Broadway Avenue.
Motorists must detour using north Monroe Street, west Boone Avenue, north Howard Street, and west Maxwell Avenue. Local access and businesses remain open.
Maxwell Avenue Upgrades
Maxwell Avenue between Pettet Drive and Walnut Street will have speed and lane reductions through October.
According to the City of Spokane the project adds sidewalks, bike lanes, and crosswalk improvements connecting West Central with AM Cannon Park and the Centennial Trail.
Plan Ahead
City officials urge drivers to allow extra time, use alternate routes during peak hours, and support affected businesses.
