COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Prosecutors announced they will be seeking the death penalty for the man accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in Post Falls.
Jason Rook is facing charges of first-degree murder, burglary, stalking, and destroying evidence in the shooting death of 46-year-old Nathan Rodgers in February. Rook pled not guilty.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Ring doorbell footage showed a masked man shooting Rodgers multiple times at his home in Post Falls. The masked man was later identified as Rook.
Prosecutors filed documents in May saying they intend to seek the death penalty. The defense has filed multiple motions to strike the death penalty.
Rook’s trial is currently scheduled to begin September 22. You can see the full motion below.
