CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. – Several safety concerns involving the father of the three murdered Wenatchee sisters were revealed in newly released court documents.
A court filing referenced in the protection order petition for the mother of nine-year-old Paityn, eight-year-old Evelyn and five-year-old Olivia detailed injuries sustained by the children while staying overnight with their dad.
The court document was filed last September, as a petition to revise the parenting plan and remove overnight visits with Travis Decker while he was living out of his truck.
On August 15, 2023 the document states one of the girls was, “passed out on the couch” at Travis Decker’s mother’s home.
“Olivia had a bathrobe tied around her neck and he didn’t tell me because he didn’t want me to keep the girls from her.”
Then on December 19, 2023 she writes, “Paityn was unattended in the armory with Olivia playing.”
Shortly after, one of the girls smashed her fingers in a pull-down machine.
During that same weekend visit, the document states Evelyn returned “with welts between her legs” that resembled diaper rash.
The modified parenting plan from last fall allowed Decker to visit his kids every other weekend within specific hours in the Wenatchee Valley.
According to the newly released document, in July of last year, the children’s mother said Travis hitchhiked to her house and asked to stay in the basement with the girls. He also offered to pick up the girls from a play, but because he was hitchhiking, a stranger would have had to pick them up.
The following month, Travis told the girls he sold his trailer and he and the girls stayed in a tent at his friend’s house that weekend.
The children’s mother said the girls were “deeply affected by the uncertainty surrounding time with their dad,” and in some cases she witnessed “screaming/crying bouts at drop off or when they get off a phone call.”
Court records from their divorce show Decker was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and was not engaged in any psychotherapy.
Decker’s ex-wife expressed considerable concerns for his wellbeing, writing:
“He has made huge sacrifices to serve our country and loves his girls very much but he has got to get better for our girls.”
