SPOKANE, Wash. — Former Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers announced the launch of a new nonprofit that hopes to inspire the next generation of political leaders.
The Cathy McMorris Rodgers Leadership Institute was founded on the guiding principles of restoring trust in God, building a stronger, united nation and promoting acts of kindness. It will be based in Spokane and provide a variety of programming and grants.
These include:
Two annual fellowships that will support national and local prayer networksThe Good American Project, which hopes to connect with the community through seminars and publications to promote the importance of freedom and faith in shaping this countryA research hub that looks to influence public discourse and drive policy changeA fellowship program that will place a fellow at each college and university in Washington to establish local chapters of the institutionA program that works with school districts to engage students in understanding America’s founding principlesThe Flag Project, which wants to make the flag more visible in communities
“The genius of America has always been the creativity and hard work of freedom-loving Americans. As Representative, I witnessed every day the very best of Eastern Washington and our nation, along with the vital role American leadership plays on the global stage,” said McMorris Rodgers. “For nearly 250 years, America has stood as a beacon of hope and freedom to the world. For this light to endure, we must cultivate leaders who understand the power of freedom, the conviction of faith, and possess the moral clarity to confront today’s challenges with strength and courage.”
Rep. McMorris Rodgers served as the Washington District 5 Representative from 2005 to 2025.
