CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — People living near Second Creek Road, north of Leavenworth, should prepare to leave their homes in case wildfire conditions worsen, according to Department of Natural Resources.
On May 28 around 5 p.m., DNR said Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuations were in place for residents near the community of Plain, along Second Creek Road, from Merry Canyon Road northeast to 7804 Road.
As of Wednesday evening, the Second Creek Fire, burning about eight miles north of Leavenworth is estimated to be about 64 acres. It is about 20% contained.
CCFD3 said the Second Creek Fire broke out on Monday and is burning on United States Forest Service land and being managed by USFS and Washington Department of Natural Resources.
DNR said crews are responding with both air and ground resources.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but suspected to have been human-caused.
