SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police is sharing the results of its latest Click It or Ticket emphasis patrol from May 22.
The goal of this patrol was to encourage people to drive safer and wear their seatbelts.
SPD said over the eight-hour enforcement period, 24 speeding tickets, 17 cell phone violations, 33 seatbelt violations and 22 violations for no insurance were written.
Eight drivers were also arrested for suspended driving and another driver was arrested for not having an ignition interlock device.
Ignition interlock devices are given to drivers who were previously convicted of DUI, reckless driving or other related charges.
“This snapshot gives an idea as to how many drivers are operating their vehicles unsafely, distracted and/or while not wearing safety belts on any given day,” SPD said.
SPD asks everyone to travel safely, whether you’re driving, riding a bike or walking through the city.
