SPOKANE, Wash. – The third-overall pick in the 2024 MLB Entry Draft is back for the Spokane Indians, returning to the Inland Northwest after nursing back a wrist injury this offseason.
Charlie Condon, who made his Spokane debut in their Northwest League-winning 2024 season, returns to the lineup.
“It’s great to get back out here and get that wrist healthy and get back out here with this group of guys.” Condon said. “Only been here for a couple days with these guys I’ve known for a while, so to join back up with them and getting back on the field with them has been a ton of fun.”
Condon told us that the pressure of being a top draft pick doesn’t faze him much, and his standard is set high.
“The only place pressure comes from for me is myself, and I feel like I do a pretty good job of managing that,” Condon said. “I’m going to hold myself to a high standard all the time. I know people are going to expect things from me, but as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t mean a whole lot to me. I’m always going to hold myself to the highest standard, and, as far as I’m concerned, the only person I have to let down is myself.”
The infielder was a legend for the Georgia Bulldogs, winning SEC Player of the Year and the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the best player in college baseball.
“Yeah, being out here a little bit last year, it’s weird being far from home, but at the same time, baseball in and of itself, is a little bit of my home,” Condon said. “So, you get back out on the baseball field, it feels like home. Kinda regardless of where you are, you get on a team atmosphere like this with this group of guys, great organization, everything starts to feel like home no matter where you’re at.”
Spokane has first pitch for Game 3 against the Tri-City Dust Devils tonight at 6:35 p.m.
