COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A Coeur d’Alene man was arrested for a homicide out of Havre, Montana.
According to the Havre Police Department, officers were called out on Wednesday, May 7 for reports of a dead body.
When police arrived, they discovered the body of 35-year-old Dixie Schroeder. During the investigation, it was determined Schroeder was likely the victim of foul play.
Investigators determined that 35-year-old Cody Rencruel was a person of interest in this case. Rencruel, who was located in the Coeur d’Alene area, also had Schroeder’s car in his possession.
With the help of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Coeur d’Alene Police Department and other agencies based out of Montana, Rencruel was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday, May 8.
Havre Police say other evidence suggested Rencruel was planning other violent crimes at the time of his arrest.
Rencruel is currently being held at the Kootenai County Detention Center for deliberate homicide charges.
This case is still under investigation.
