SPOKANE, Wash — One person is hurt, and a dog was killed in an early morning house fire on Spokane’s south hill.
It happened at Havana Street near 39th Avenue, just a few blocks south of Chase Middle School.
According to the Spokane Fire Department, the call came in just before 3 a.m.
The fire is out, but it severely damaged the home and garage.
Fire crews on scene say a woman was able to make it out of the home safely, but a man had to be rescued by firefighters and taken to the hospital.
Firefighters say the man has life threatening injures.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
South Havana St. is temporarily shut down between 37th and 40th St.
