SEATTLE, Wash. — Washington state Attorney General Nick Brown announced a multi-state lawsuit against the Trump administration over wind energy development.
According to the AG, a January directive by President Trump halted the funding and federal approvals needed for both onshore and offshore wind energy projects. In one instance, a project in New York had already been fully permitted and construction had begun.
AG Brown says President Trump’s directive harms state’s ability to produce renewable energy, threatens local economies, and damages greenhouse gas emissions goals.
Other attorneys general included in the lawsuit are from Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, Oregon, and Rhode Island.
“We can’t unleash American energy by kneecapping some of the fastest growing, most innovative, and cleanest resources in the country,” Attorney General Nick Brown said. “Without a robust clean energy economy, we will see worsening climate change, more expensive energy from toxic fossil fuels, fewer jobs, and fewer solutions to our greatest challenges.”
