AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — The West Plains will soon welcome a new center to house multiple community resources for those in need.
The Hope Center is a joint project by the Women’s Healing and Empowerment Network (WHEN) and the West Plains Safety Alliance.
The goal of the center is to provide a safe, supportive environment for people in need, by offering a variety of community resources and services.
“WHEN and the West Plains Safety Alliance have a shared dedication to making the community safer and happier,” said Alise Mnati, board president of the West Plains Safety Alliance. “Both have long envisioned creating a sanctuary where individuals can find solace, hope, and healing.”
The facility will house WHEN’s Warehouse and Cleone’s Closet, offering free clothing, household items, and furniture to individuals healing from trauma and abuse.
WHEN founder and president Mable Dunbar said the Hope Center will serve as a “one-stop organization” for those seeking assistance, including survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Additional services will also be provided in partnership with local law enforcement.
The Hope Center will also offer resources from West Plains Victim Services and Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD), such as long-term case management, temporary housing and criminal legal aid to victims of violence.
The Hope Center is located at 13326 W. Sunset Highway and is expected to open May 1.
