DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wash. — If you have a loved one who is considered vulnerable, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wants you to know about a useful tool that could help keep them safe.
On April 19, DCSO will host the Vulnerable Persons Registration Event.
The event is an opportunity for Douglas County residents to add their vulnerable loved ones to the Vulnerable Persons Registry.
“The registry provides quick access to critical information about a registered person, such as who to call in an emergency, a detailed physical description and any particular sensitivities that the person may experience. Registration is completely voluntary. The database is to help alleviate safety concerns for those that are vulnerable in the community,” DCSO said.
According to DCSO, a vulnerable person is someone who, due to medical, cognitive, mental health or physical condition, may exhibit patterns of behavior that may pose a danger to themself.
A vulnerable condition often causes wandering, difficulty communicating, aggression, irrational fear or oversensitivity to sensory input, like sounds, lights and touch.
Examples of conditions that would qualify someone as ‘vulnerable’ include:

The registration event will take place on April 19 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Pybus Market Place, 7 Worthen St. in Wenatchee.
