COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Two people were arrested for drug charges following a routine traffic stop in Kootenai County Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over Kassey Trump a little after 1:45 p.m. on Northwest Boulevard and Lakewood Drive for a traffic violation.
Trump admitted to not having a driver’s license during the stop. KCSO said the passenger of the car, Derrick Miller, seemed visibly nervous and showed signs of potential drug use.
During the stop, K9 Luuki sniffed around the vehicle and alerted deputies to potential narcotics.
When deputies searched the vehicle, they found a glass pipe containing what they believed to be meth along with other drug paraphernalia and packaging materials.
Miller admitted to buying around an ounce of meth in Spokane.
KCSO said in total, over 100 grams of meth, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and a syringe containing what investigators believe to be meth were found in the vehicle. There was also a container with an unknown white powder and a pill suspected of containing fentanyl.
Miller was booked into Kootenai County Jail for trafficking meth and possession of paraphernalia. Trump was booked into Kootenai County Jail for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
