GRANT COUNT, Wash. — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for kidnapping and assaulting a man held hostage for two days in Moses Lake.
According to deputies, the victim was behind the Ephrata Safeway on Sunday, April 6.
Deputies say the suspects, including 27-year-old Destin Johnson, drove up to the man and offered him warmth inside the vehicle. When the victim got in, the suspects threatened to kill him and drove to a property in Moses Lake.
The victim told law enforcement he was kept under a bed in a trailer for two days being tased, beaten with a bat, and assaulted.
On Wednesday, April 9, the victim was let go in a rural area, and a passing citizen took him to the hospital.
Deputies say on Friday, April 11, the victim was the Circle K on Stratford Road in Moses Lake when two of the kidnapping tried to kidnap the victim again.
The victim was able to get away and call police.
Johnson was located by deputies later that day rummaging through trash on Castle Drive in Moses Lake.
He was booked into the Grant County Jail for first-degree kidnapping and second-degree assault.
GCSO says the victim and Johnson knew each other and the crime appears targeted.
The investigation is ongoing.
