OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — An earthquake hit north of Tonasket, Washington in Okanogan County early Sunday morning, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.
Around 4 a.m. on April 13, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded about 120 miles northwest of Spokane, and 26 miles north/northeast of Okanogan.
Earthquakes are measured on The Richter Scale, which evaluates the strength of the vibration’s released when the earth’s tectonic plates move.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) tracks reports on if an earthquake was felt. For Sunday’s Okanogan earthquake, 37 responses were recorded. All reports describe the earthquake as having not been felt at all to “lightly” felt.
