CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies arrested a man for posing as a minor and having sexually explicit conversations with a 14-year-old girl, according to Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
On April 8, CCSO arrested 19-year-old John Vargas-Lopez near his home in Peshastin.
CCSO said a woman in Colorado discovered sexually explicit messages between Vargas-Lopez and her 14-year-old daughter, dating back to November 2024.
Vargas-Lopez told the young teen he planned to travel to Colorado to visit her.
CCSO said phone and social media records showed a consistent pattern of Vargas-Lopez posing as a teenage boy and soliciting sexually explicit photos and videos from young girls on Instagram and Snapchat.
He was booked into Chelan County Regional Justice Center for sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual communication with a minor and possession of child pornography.
CCSO is continuing the investigation and attempting to identify other victims of Vargas-Lopez.
