COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A local orthopedic surgeon has been sentenced to prison secretly filming his employees and employee children.
According to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney, an employee discovered hidden cameras in the office of 69-year-old Spencer David Greendyke.
The employee found videos on a memory card taken inside the employee bathroom, including one of the employee’s private areas.
During their investigation, detectives said they uncovered evidence that Greendyke had recorded more than 800 hidden videos over the past 15 to 20 years in his office and home.
However, due to a five-year statute of limitations, charges could only be filed for conduct dating back to 2019.
On April 4, 2025, District Judge Ross Pittman sentenced Greendyke with 11-counts of video voyeurism, a combined 40-year prison term, with parole eligibility after 20 years, and imposed a no-contact order for the duration of the sentence.
Video voyeurism is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Greendyke must also register as a sex offender if released.
Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Art Verharen recommended a unified 40-year sentence with parole eligibility after 25 years.
