MOSES LAKE, Wash. — The Moses Lake School board will take legal action against the company that built one of their elementary schools.
On Thursday night, the MLSD Board voted unanimously to take legal action against Fowler Construction, Inc, the contractor that built Groff Elementary School due to its ongoing electrical issues.
The resolution says the school district has identified “significant defects in the construction of Groff Elementary School, including but not limited to the school’s mechanical and electrical systems, roofing system and stairs.”
In early March, the school district closed Groff to address electrical issues. While it originally only planned to close the school for a week, further inspection revealed greater repairs were necessary.
MLSD then announced Groff Elementary would remain closed through the end of the school year.

400 students were relocated to other schools to finish out the rest of the year.
Through the legal action, the school district hopes to recoup damages “due to the defective and delayed construction of Groff Elementary.”
MLSD will hold a press conference with more details on Friday morning.
