SPOKANE, Wash. — Raising a pre-teen can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone.
Starting April 17, local organizations are partnering together to offer the ‘Strengthening Families Program’ for parents and youth (ages 10-14) in East Valley.
The seven-week program provides caregivers/parents and youth educational resources on teen substance use prevention, parenting skills and family relationship-building.
“SFP 10-14 is a nationally recognized, evidence-based curriculum,” said Shani Codr, Community Coalition Coordinator for East Valley Community Coalition and NEWESD 101. “The program equips parents/guardians with practical tools to support their parenting journey.”
Each Thursday, the classes begin with a free dinner, followed by separate classes for parents and kids. The class concludes with a joint family activity to promote team-building and family bonding.
