SPOKANE, Wash. — Downtown Spokane is set for a bustling weekend as thousands of sports fans, concertgoers, and St. Patrick’s Day partiers head into town. With a packed schedule of events, attendees are urged to plan ahead to avoid traffic and parking headaches.
From concerts to sporting events and festive parades, Spokane’s major venues will be hosting a variety of activities.
On Friday night, country music star Kelsea Ballerini will take the stage at the Spokane Arena, while high school soccer matches kick off at One Spokane Stadium.
The action continues Saturday with the Spokane Chiefs facing off against the Tri-Cities Americans and a Zephyr game at One Spokane Stadium, followed by a Velocity match on Sunday.
Basketball fans can enjoy the Washington State Middle School Boys Basketball Championships at The Podium, running throughout the weekend.
Beyond sports, the city will be alive with St. Patrick’s Day festivities. While the holiday falls on Monday, celebrations will be in full swing over the weekend.
A downtown Spokane St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl is set for Saturday and Sunday, along with the annual parade on Saturday. The parade will begin at Boone and Washington, move past the Pavilion, and conclude at City Hall.
Meanwhile, local businesses are preparing for a surge in visitors, with restaurants and hotels anticipating a significant boost in traffic.
Businesses, like Kasa Taphouse near Riverfront Park, are gearing up for the weekend’s influx of visitors. Owner Julie Norris says weekends like this make a major difference. “It’s really feast or famine sometimes with the amount of people. It can be a normal business day, and suddenly, two hours before a concert or game, we’re packed with a line out the door,” Norris said.
To navigate the excitement, attendees may consider carpooling or using Spokane Transit Authority buses to avoid congestion.
