SPOKANE, Wash. — Three puppies in the quarantine building at SpokAnimal died in a fire on Saturday.
SpokAnimal said a neighbor called the fire department when they saw smoke coming from the building.
Firefighters arrived and were able to put the fire out within minutes.
The quarantine building helps keep sick animals away from the general shelter population.
SpokAnimal said the building is a total loss and will have to evaluate for rebuilding.
“The SpokAnimal team is heartbroken but we will persist with saving lives,” the organization posted on Facebook.
