TACOMA, Wash. – Despite a late scare, the top-seeded Central Valley Bears girls basketball team beat the No. 7 Kennewick Lions 45-37 in the state basketball tournament in Tacoma.
Eden Sander was phenomenal for CV, scoring 24 and collecting seven rebounds, while Brynn McGaughy had an off day shooting but snagged 18 rebounds.
The Bears held the Lions to shooting 25% from the field and just 3/19 from three-point range.
Now Central Valley advances to the semifinals to play the 19th-seeded Garfield Bulldogs who have won four-straight upsets to make this semi.
Tip-off in Tacoma is tomorrow at 3:45 p.m.
