SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A 52-year-old man was arrested for vandalizing the bathrooms and signs at Balfour Park last month.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, a Spokane Valley employee reported vandalism in the bathrooms on February 28. The employee said to repair and repaint the damage, it would cost around $800.
Thanks to security cameras at the park, investigators identified Douglas R. Frome as the man suspected of causing the vandalism.
The Sheriff’s Office says the following day, Frome was detained and admitted to drawing swastikas and the Star of David around the newly built Spokane Valley Public Library and Balfour Park using a dry erase marker.
The detective interviewing Frome said he had the same backpack and scarf as the suspect caught on security footage.
Frome was booked into Spokane County Jail for felony malicious mischief.
