STEVENS COUNTY, Wash – A six-month old baby was killed in a crash Monday on Highway 395.
Washington State Patrol said a two-vehicle crash happened Monday morning on Highway 395 at mile post 200.
This is about seven miles south of Chewelah.
Troopers say two vehicles were going north on Highway 395 when one vehicle with two adults, a 3-year-old boy, 2-year-old boy, and 6-month-old Emma Hays was making a left turn on Bakie Road.
The second northbound vehicle rear-ended the first vehicle. WSP says the second vehicle was following too close.
Emma was taken to the hospital where she later died.
The driver of the second vehicle was also injured but the extent is unknown at this time.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors.
The crash shut down the highway for a short time, detouring traffic.
