PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University announced it has extended the contracts of both men’s basketball coach David Riley and women’s basketball coach Kamie Ethridge through the 2030-31 season.
Riley, who agreed to a six-year contract when he took at the job at WSU, is in his first season as the head coach of the Cougars. He’s led them to an 18-13 regular season record, despite an array of injuries to key players.
He was twice named Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year during his time at Eastern Washington University.
Riley’s Cougars will open West Coast Conference Tournament play on Saturday in Las Vegas, NV as the sixth seed. Their opponent is still to be determined.
Ethridge is in her seventh season at WSU. She guided the Cougars to three NCAA Tournament appearances in 2021-2023 and reached the WBIT semifinals in 2024. She has an overall record of 119-102 in Pullman, including 19-12 this season.
She was named the National Coach of the Year by The Athletic in 2023 and Pac-12 Coach of the Year by the media in 2022.
Ethridge’s team will open West Coast Conference Tournament play on Sunday in Las Vegas, NC as the third seed. Their opponent is also still to be determined.
