MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Students at Groff Elementary School will have to login to remote learning for at least a week due to an electrical problem. A notification about the temporary closure from Monday, March 3, through Friday, March 7 was posted to the school Facebook page. According to the school principal, Nikki Mackey, the closure was to “ensure the safety of our students and staff” and a plan for virtual learning was posted to the school Facebook page. It reads in part: “We understand that this closure may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we prioritize the well-being of our school community. If repairs are completed sooner than anticipated, we will notify families promptly and adjust our return-to-school date accordingly.” Principal Mackey advised parents to check back for more information about a plan to distribute Chromebooks on Tuesday, March 4th. Free meals for students can be picked up at the school between 9:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. in the bus lane.
The school is expected to reopen on Monday, March 10, 2025.
