CHENEY, Wash. – An absolute heartbreaker in Cheney saw the EWU Eagles fall to the Weber State Wildcats 66-64 behind a last half-second buzzer-beater by Alex Tew.
The Eags screeched back into the game after trailing in the second half, taking a five-point lead inside three minutes, but then allowing a five-point run to tie it a minute later.
Eastern allowed a Blaise Threatt basket with 31 seconds left to trail by two, but two Nic McClain free throws tied the game with 15 seconds to go.
Angelo Winkel blocked a Threatt shot out of bounds inside one second, and then Threatt lobbed up the game-winner by Tew.
