SPOKANE, Wash. — An electrical fire at a Spokane home Tuesday afternoon left one person and their dog displaced.
According to the City of Spokane Fire Department, calls came in around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday about a fire coming from a home on East 6th Avenue.
Firefighters from Spokane and Spokane Valley arrived to find a fire at a 1-and-a-half-story home.
When crews entered, they discovered a soft spot on the floor which led them to believe fire activity in the basement.
During a search of the home, firefighters found a dog named Abby unconscious. After a short while, they were able to successfully revive her.
The fire was contained in the basement and controlled within 20 minutes. SFD says there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.
No one was hurt in the fire.
An investigation says the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
The Red Cross was contacted to help the displaced person and their pet.
