SPOKANE, Wash. — Hundreds of protesters rallied for human rights in downtown Spokane on Monday afternoon.
Local nonprofits, Thrive International and Spokane Community Against Racism, organized Monday’s ‘We Are Spokane’ March. It called for equal rights for all and was in opposition to many of the Trump Administration’s policies.
Near the big red wagon in Riverfront Park, the crowd gathered to voice their support for LGTBQ+ rights, immigrant rights and more.
“We want to save our country. We’re very concerned about what’s happening to our country, to our people, to our fellow citizens, to our status in the world, to immigrants and to the marginalized. It’s criminal and it’s being run by somebody who wasn’t elected,” said protest attendee, Harriet Bloom-Wilson.
Bloom-Wilson said she marched during the Civil Rights Movement, and during the Vietnam War. She told us she never imagined our country would go back this far.
Spokanites lined the streets with signs and flags in hand as they demanded change. Some called out President Trump and Elon Musk specifically.
Others used this time to tell their neighbor that this demonstration wasn’t enough. They encouraged the crowd to call our state representatives and let them know that they stood for justice.
